In a country that doesn't (officially) recognize state-sponsored religion, whose Constitution says "all men are created equal," where bigotry and bias are abhorred — why do otherwise intelligent and sensitive people feel they can engage in hate speech against gay people?

Republicans Encouraged to Come Out

Ah -- I guess this would be the definitive example of "irony."

Republicans, who spend most of their time decrying any advance for gay
people, steal an idea gay people originated and have used for years.
The charge that Republicans don't have free, original thought has just
gained more weight, hasn't it?

You'd think, given the reports about the rampant number of Republicans
who live a down-low, double life -- maintaining a sex-free marriage in
public while trolling around for same-gender sex in private (see
www.blogactive.com for specific examples) -- these folks would have
shied away from the term "coming out," no? It's funny to read that the
organizers of this effort actually admit that many conservatives live
lives "in the closet." We know. Trust me -- we know!

I wonder how many will mistakenly proclaim their true sexual
identities today, reading a proclamation stating how much they enjoy
butt-sex to a room of stunned (but not what you would call completely
repulsed) compadres.

I'd love to see this tracked. It has "dismal failure" written all over
it. At least it's a good way to meet other people who share
your<<i>…ahem…<</i>interests.

Republicans to Host ‘Conservative Coming Out Day’

Indiana State students are encouraged by the College Republicans to
publicly declare their conservative beliefs at the first National
Conservative Coming Out Day today.

Jonathan Moore, president of the ISU College Republicans, said the
event...is for students who are closet conservatives, to publicly show
their political beliefs by reading a testimonial.</fontfamily><fontfamily><param>Arial</param>
